Our New Lucca glazed ceramic table lamp is crafted in a small workshop in Chiang Mai, the ancient northern capital of Thailand. The women who work there take exceptional pride in crafting the intricate details of every piece. They set locally sourced Sukhothai-ware clay into a mold, letting the piece air dry slowly until it's what potters call "leather hard." Next, they work the still-flexible shape by hand, giving it extra depth and texture before firing it, pouring a reactive glaze over the form, and firing it again. To finish the piece, the artisans attach the colorful pottery table lamp to an acrylic base. No two of these ceramic table lamps are exactly alike.
